Ancient Greek Ethics

Aristotle’s Golden Mean is the principal of this ethical school of thought. Essentially everyone must find balance in ethical decisions. Since it is often difficult to come to a decision one way or the other, Aristotle suggests compromising between two extremes and doing what would fall into ‘the Golden Mean’ in the situation.

Silverine, you are not a much of a Catholic, aren’t you :-) Sometimes I wonder what religion puts the most imprtance of happiness, and laughter. I don’t think there is any though. Religion is all about rules, and rules are never about laughter. The Navajo Indians in Arizona have something called “Hozro”, which is to walk in harmony with everything else. That is a neat concept.
